Marine Service Technician (Apprentice) Job Summary – Entry Level:
The Marine Service Technician Apprentice (META) will utilize his/her knowledge of electronic circuitry, coupled with company provided training, to install, service, and repair electronic equipment onboard ships. Participants of this program will advance when they can demonstrate the ability to address a variety of technical problems including testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas as well as loading, updating, programming, and/or modifying software. The technician will also learn how to make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments followed with a detailed service report.

Marine Service Technician Requirements:
• 3+ Years of experience in commercial shipping as a MET, MST, or ET or if acquired in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines a plus.
• Associate degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
• Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying 20–50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
• Reliable transportation is required.
